Sun enters Leo on July the 22nd and remains in the sign of the Lion till August the 22nd. Happy birthday Leos! It is your time to shine, but before the spotlight falls on you, in Mercury retrograde fashion, lets discuss the details of this beautiful transit. For natal Leos (Sun, Moon, Ascendant in Leo), although the Sun will certainly bring attention to them, the simultaneous presence of Mercury retrograde in Leo will give a feeling of going on stage to perform but with a broken microphone.

Sun is representative of masculine authority and even of monarchy. This is transit that puts emphasis on masculine figures and people in leadership positions. Pluto in Aquarius opposing the Sun can also bring extreme public reactions to abusive leaders.

On the 24th of July there is a New Moon in Leo happening. This represents a new beginning in the Leo sector of your chart. This new project may take roots 3 days before till 3 days after the new moon, and regardless of the house it is happening in, it will have something to do with authority, ego or creativity. It could just mean you are trying to get recognition or make yourself noticed through something. Unfortunately this New Moon receives a challenging aspect, an opposition from Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto ca signify manipulation, control, jealousy and survival responses. Aquarius is the sign of the people, and also represents groups, technology and the internet. Watch out for control and manipulation from groups of people that can undermine or transform whatever new project you are starting. If you are trying to get noticed or get praise for a job well done, watch out for negative reactions an jealousy from others. You could also be trying to occupy a position of leadership or authority but some people may have the opinion that too much power has be given to you and may try to assert control over you. Others may just see you as a righteous individual in a group of not so well intended people. There is also some benefic influence to this New Moon - a trine to Saturn/ Neptune in Aries and a sextile to Uranus in Gemini. Some older masculine figure can support your new way of shinning in the world and will encourage you to be in the spotlight. Or, the work (Saturn) you have put in developing your individual persona (Aries) will have your asking of recognition be very justified. Saturn is a planet that blocks and limits. Try to not assert in a very direct way or get aggressive. If you have put in the work, let facts speak for you (especially in a Mercury retrograde period). Gemini is a sign that symbolizes siblings, colleagues, neighbors. On August the 1st, Sun will conjunct Mercury retrograde in Leo, forming the Mercury Cazimi. This should be a day where you get an enlightening idea. This idea you have may only be acknowledged or received correctly on the 10th of September when the Sun conjuncts Mercury direct in Virgo (another Mercury Cazimi but this time with a Mercury in direct motion). Whatever idea you wanted to express in a bold manner on the 1st of August will be revisited and maybe implemented in logical Virgo fashion on the 20th of September.

This Leo season will give you the opportunity to shine but you should chose your words wisely. It is not enough to lead with great ideas. You must also know how to express them in a way that will make others assist you. Do not let others put you down. They will most certainly acknowledge your power, worth and courage during this transit, but they may get triggered by the way you communicate. Try to e more softspoken and explain to others that you have no negative intentions. If some ideas are not well received during this transit wait until Mercury is direct and maybe for its ingress into Virgo, where the planet of communication has dignity.
