WHAT IS SYNASTRY?
What is synastry? Synastry is a way of assessing compatibility between two people. You take one person's birth chart in the form of an astrological wheel and you superimpose it on the birth chart of the other person.
Doing this you will see that each person's planets and points fall in certain houses of the other person's chart. This is what is called a house overlay. If you don't know what houses are in a birth chart please read this post. After you superimpose the charts, you will also see that planets and points of a person interact with the planets and points of the other person. These interactions are called aspects and show how planets and points communicate between two people. Some aspects show a similarity or compatibility between the planets of two people, and some may show a lack of understanding or a complementarity between them. If you don't know what each planet means please click here.
Synastry shows how 2 people interact with each other on a daily basis (more specifically how one person's chart interacts with the other person's chart). It is different from a composite chart which shows how the relationship between people is. The composite is the chart of the relationship (as if the relationship is a third entity with it's own birth chart).
